Cloudy, murky water might look fitting with Halloween coming up but is best treated to ensure your water is safe and clean! 🎃

If your water is looking a little cloudy then try these steps to resolve it:

1. Test your water and make sure your pH, total alkalinity and sanitiser levels are spot on. If they're not then correct and re-test 20 minutes later.

2. Check your filters. Have they had a good hose down or a deep soak in filter cleaner recently? If you've had the spa a little while then could they need replacing? Most paper filters will last 9-12 months but that's dependent on usage and water chemistry so it might be time to replace or have a spare set on hand.

3. Shock your hot tub water with a specialised oxidiser such as Spa Revive or Spa Fusion/Spa Refresh sachets and add a dose of clarifier. This could take up to 24 hours to take effect. Check your water 24 hours later and repeat this treatment if necessary. Sometimes a double dose is needed.

4. Think back to when your water was last changed. If you're approaching 3 months old then whilst you might be able to rescue the water, your level of spent chemicals and metals will be steadily rising in your spa water. It is probably time to drain, clean and refill!
